Sensei Peter Johnson
Date of Birth:- 07/05/1966
I took up Karate at the age of 32 to
support my son through his Black Belt training and quickly became
hooked. I always thought I had left it too late but I proved myself
wrong. At first it was difficult to learn some of the combinations, but
over the years the techniques have jelled together and the katas have
become more natural.
I am currently studying for my Sandan
grade and when I am not being trained I enjoy instructing the junior
grades through Kihon, Kata and Kumite. I am a great believer in the
importance of these traditional aspects of Karate training. To this end
I always work closely with the students to explain the techniques and
help them achieve their best. They can then feel proud that they have
enhanced their understanding of the Bunkai.
As well as supporting the club by
entering the Nationals held at Bamber Bridge I also try and attend all
the demonstrations we hold during the summer months. This offers us an
ideal opportunity to encourage people to try their hand at Karate.
All the sensei's at Kobushi have been
extremely supportive and encouraged me throughout my training. I hope I
can give something back to my club as a thank you for everything it has
given me.
Grade:- Nidan (2nd Dan)
