Sensei Nicola Jewes-Price

Date of Birth:- 24/09/1975

I started Karate in 1998 at the age of 23. I was awarded my Shodan in April 2001, my Nidan in June 2003 and my Sandan in June 2006.

Since I have been training  in karate I have had the opportunity to train with Hirokazu Kanazawa on three occasions which I have found the be very beneficial.

I have entered the E.S.K.A nationals 8 times and currently hold first place for ladies kata, Kata is an area of karate which I particularly enjoy and hope I can give some of the knowledge which I have received back to the students of Kobushi.

Grade:- Sandan (3rd Dan)

Sensei John Price

Date of Birth:- 30/09/19

I have been training for 8 years and currently hold the rank of Sandan. Karate has given me so much and even though I am still learning I enjoy giving some knowledge back to the students. I have been fortunate enough to be part of and captain a successful team. I'm looking forward to what karate has to offer me in the future and what I can give back to help keep traditional karate strong.

I started Karate in 1994 at the age of 7, with my sister. We both became Shodan's in 1997.  I am currently studying for my Sandan, which is both very difficult and very rewarding.

Since I have been training  in karate I have had the opportunity to train with Hirokazu Kanazawa on four occasions which I have found the be very interesting.

I have be awarded the Tigger trophy  in previous years, which is a very prestigious award at Kobushi.

I have entered the E.S.K.A Nationals every year since the age of 8. I have always placed highly in all three categories.

As I progress through the grades I intend to give back my knowledge and experience as both a child and adult.

Sensei Peter Johnson

Date of Birth:- 07/05/1966

I took up Karate at the age of 32 to support my son through his Black Belt training and quickly became hooked. I always thought I had left it too late but I proved myself wrong. At first it was difficult to learn some of the combinations, but over the years the techniques have jelled together and the katas have become more natural.

I am currently studying for my Sandan grade and when I am not being trained I enjoy instructing the junior grades through Kihon, Kata and Kumite. I am a great believer in the importance of these traditional aspects of Karate training. To this end I always work closely with the students to explain the techniques and help them achieve their best. They can then feel proud that they have enhanced their understanding of the Bunkai.

As well as supporting the club by entering the Nationals held at Bamber Bridge I also try and attend all the demonstrations we hold during the summer months. This offers us an ideal opportunity to encourage people to try their hand at Karate.

All the sensei's at Kobushi have been extremely supportive and encouraged me throughout my training. I hope I can give something back to my club as a thank you for everything it has given me.

Grade:- Nidan (2nd Dan)

Sensei Philip Entwistle

Date of Birth:- 13/11/1963

At the age of 33 I took up Shotokan Karate only to wish I had started 10 years earlier, such is the respect I have for karate, my sensei and the club.

As I am currently training for Sandan grade this is taking up most of my time but hopefully and if I am successful, I will be able to use this and my recently gained E.S.K.A instructors qualification to give back to the club.

I wish to duplicate all the time, effort and instruction the sensei's have given me over the years and to up hold the values of Traditional Shotokan Karate.

Grade:- Nidan (2nd Dan)
